LAY FLAT

Wider than tall. Rotate to lay flat!

Stones are strongest when laid on their widest face. Use W or ↑ to rotate before placing. Coping stones are the exception — they stand on end.

1 OVER 2

One stone on two below. Not 3+.

Each stone should bridge across the joint between two stones below it. Sitting on 3+ stones means you're not spanning gaps well enough.

2 INTO 1

Two match one. No zipper joints!

Avoid aligning vertical joints. When joints stack up in a column, it creates a "zipper" — a crack that weakens the wall structurally.

MIDDLE THIRD

Edges in middle third below.

A stone's edges should land in the middle third of the stone below. Dead center is ideal. This creates the strongest bond between courses.

COURSING

Large at base, smaller up top.

Build thick stones at the bottom (9-12"), medium in the middle (5-8"), and thin near the top (2-4"). This creates a stable, tapered wall.

COPING

Stones stood on end cap the wall.

Coping stones are set upright along the wall top to lock everything together. Bank stones using B — through stones route to the through bank, others to the coping bank. Click "Set Copes" when ready.

THROUGH STONE

Dark stones at the halfway point (27").

Through stones span the full wall thickness at the 27" through line. Bank them with B when drawn (routes to through bank), then retrieve with T when you reach the line. Place them 2.5-3.5 feet apart for best stability.
